Jordan Night at Sherman

Sherman School of Excellence and the James R. Jordan Foundation hosted the school's first Jordan Night on Thursday, November 18, 2010.  The evening kicked off with announcements from Sherman's PTA President, followed by an A-Team Celebration.  JRJF A-Team Coordinator Lisa Murphy called A-Team scholarship earners to the stage to receive their certificates and an A-Team t-shirt.  Mrs. Meyers, Sherman's Assistant Principal, joined Lisa to announce Sherman's first Disney World vacation winner - 6th-grader JohnNysha got straight A's all year, and is taking her family on a well-deserved trip to see Mickey, courtesy of United Airlines!

After a quick pizza break, JRJF Development Director Candace Crisman met with Sherman parents of teen A-Team Scholars to discuss where to find and how to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and how to select a college or university.  Meanwhile, Lisa met with Club A-Team, our high school scholars.  The students participated in icebreaker activities, then reflected on some of their goals, and what they hope to accomplish in future Club A-Team Roundtable meetings.
