YEP+STEM an innovative STEM based entrepreneurial program was created by the James Jordan Foundation (JRJF) in 2013 to provide a unique after school program, engaging students in the fields of entrepreneurship and STEM. Many popular and rising jobs in today’s market are centered in these essential fields.
This JRJF initiative creates a bridge from education to a successful career by helping students become entrepreneurial thinkers and work-ready. Through the curriculum, students participate in classroom-based sessions enhancing their business and marketing skills. Complementing these sessions, students participate in partner led workshops, enhancing their science, technology, math, and engineering (S.T.E.M.) skills and preparing them not only to graduate but to compete successfully in a global economy.

For the 2014-2015 curriculum, classes started in October and will continue through March/April of 2015. They will take place after school once a week and students will have an opportunity to take a periodic field trip to the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and to businesses in the local community. Classes will be held at our partner schools in the West Haven and Englewood neighborhoods.
