Dear Friend,
As the James R. Jordan Foundation (JRJF) enters its 18th year of service, we're preparing for another year of celebration.
Each year we find the best methods of connecting, maximizing, and advancing our students and their education. This is
why we bring students from our partner schools together for a Holiday Celebration. It is an opportunity to provide students
with a "Winter Wonderland" complete with holiday decorations. Students receive gifts provided by partners/sponsors and
they get to take their picture with Santa. They are treated to a warm holiday meal with all the trimmings and
abundant holiday themed activities. Funds raised through the "Bags for Kids" Cornhole Tournament will be used
to provide a Holiday Celebration to over 1500 students on December 14th. For many students this may be their only holiday meal and gift.
The funds raised from this event will also go towards supporting family trips to Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama.
Students will travel with their parents to train like an astronaut. We believe the sky is the limit for our students! Students
and parents engage in science experiments and simulations of real space missions. For many participants, including the
parents, it is their first time in a different city and traveling by plane. Parents are also able to witness the high value
S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, art, math) education and exposure has for their child.

Program Impact:
The James R. Jordan Foundation partners with four elementary schools: Sherman School of Excellence in Englewood, William H. Brown and R. Nathaniel Dett in Westhaven, and Jordan Elementary Community School in the Rogers Park neighborhood. The percentage of low-income students at our partner schools are 97.2%, 98.4%, 96.9% and 97.7% respectively. The Foundation collaborates with Richard T. Crane High School, located in the Chicago’s Westhaven community, for JRJF's S.T.E.A.M. program.
Chicago Communities:
The James R. Jordan Foundation is a nonprofit (501c3) organization that works with under-served minority youth living in the Chicagoland area. The overall mission of JRJF is to connect students to supplemental educational opportunities, resources, and community support, while helping them maximize their potential and advance academically. JRJF brings innovative and exemplary programs to students and their families, while strengthening their reading and academic achievement. JRJF’s programs work to measurably improve the quality of life in our focus communities. Vision for Families – supports schools and the families through encouraging parental involvement; A-Team – supports and celebrates academic achievement through scholarships/mentorship; Read with Me! – supports literacy; S.T.E.A.M. - increases educational/mentorship opportunities and creates collaborative learning communities during the school year and winter/summer breaks. The work of the foundation is guided by the belief that a strong family plays a major role in a child’s academic success, and that education provides a path out of poverty.
