Once a week Markessa spends time with each student online, reviewing long and short vowel sounds, reading books, practicing reading comprehension, and letter identification. All of these lessons have resulted in each student increasing one grade level using the Edward Fry Readability Test from Pre- Assessment to Post Assessment. Hard work and dedication really do pay off! Pictured Right: Markessa is joined by Takira, 1st Grade, during a virtual Read with Me! session. Takira worked diligently to raise her reading skills up one grade level. Takira's reading skills went from mid-1st grade to mid-2nd grade level. |

With the end of in-person programming for the school year many supplies will be recycled for the upcoming school year. However, there was one item that was put to use right away. Thanks to our partners at Gatorade, Propel water bottles that were designated for in-person programming were sent home with families. Over 200 bottles were donated. Water bottles were distributed to families receiving breakfast and lunch from their local CPS food site. There was a need for water within in the community and we were happy to provide such a valuable resource. What an awesome show of support. |
